Dr Feroz Omar, PhD

Bioinformatics Scientist, Singapore

Dr Omar’s cancer research specialising in clinical pathology and mutational analysis spans well over a decade. During his time at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore, Dr Omar headed the bioinformatics team in the Centre of Translational Research and Diagnosis.

During his time there, he worked on the analysis of cancer mutations, the multi-dimensional analysis of gastric cancers aberrations, and cancer metabolism. This included clinically-relevant applications such as mutational analysis for off-label drug usage and an understanding of tumour heterogeneity. As a bioinformatician at the National University of Singapore’s Department of Pathology, he gained expertise working on several aspects of cancer immunohistochemistry and digital pathology.

Dr Feroz obtained his PhD in Bioinformatics and Oncology from the National University of Singapore, where his doctoral work involved elucidating mutational patterns in cancers.
